name: Franklin Antonio Jones age: Twenty membergroup: Resort Staff face claim: Adam Brody history/personality:
Franklin is, to put it nicely, an awkward child. He is not, by any means, mean. The only time he gets a bad attitude is if he hasn’t had much sleep or if someone’s really done something to piss him off. Most of the time, he’s at least polite, if not outright amicable. His issue is, really, that he doesn’t know what to do with himself. He’s good with people, considering he’s met so many, but when it comes to forming lasting relationships, he doesn’t know where to begin. That’s probably because the only people he’s known for more than two years are his parents, really. It took him quite awhile to fall into step with his band mates. He just not really used to people being in his life for long periods of time. He has quite a few commitment issues because he just doesn’t know where to begin.
As friendly as he is, though, he does tend to keep people at arm’s length. He very rarely lets people in or gets attached emotionally, and he’s pretty quiet. Because he’s done so much reading, when he gets nervous (which, let’s face it, is more often than he likes to admit), he tends to spout off random facts that hold little to no significance to, well, anything. But he just doesn’t know what else to do. He does, though, have quite an array of facts and stories about the people he’s met and the places he’s been. He’s a pretty fascinating person, once someone gets him to talk, because he has an endless amount of anecdotes to share.
He’s somewhat naïve, in the sense that his outlook on life has been shaped by movies and books and the real life stories of actors. He doesn’t necessarily have a grasp on what ‘normal’ is. He’s that kind of guy that thinks that there’s always a ‘happily ever after’ or cheesy romantic moments that tend to happen quite often in Hollywood. He was a sheltered and spoiled child in the sense that he didn’t get to see what was happening in the world, really. He doesn’t necessarily know how to handle all of the band’s fans, either. He’s used to fans in general (he’s been to more awards shows and movie premiers than he can even remember) but not when they’re directed at him. It’s a little weird.
Overall, he’s trying, but he’s a bit awkward all the same. It’s not as though he means to be; he’s sweet, he really is. He just doesn’t know how to handle himself just yet.
He likes things such as jazz, his cello, reading, listening to people talk, watching movies, learning, smoking, and foreign languages. He dislikes things such as violence, harsh reality, how nervous he gets, drugs, cold weather, and staying in one place for too long.
Frank was born in Los Angeles, California, but that in itself doesn’t have much significance considering he moved around so much. His parents, both from England (consequently, he has a Newcastle accent), were famous and widely popular in the film community. His father, a director, and his mother, a cinematographer. They almost always worked as a duo, and loved to keep busy- rarely did they turn down a project, unless it conflicted with a prior engagement. The birth of their son was hardly considered a ‘prior engagement’, and therefore, the majority of his life was spent being moved around from place to place.
He was raised a cultured and intelligent child. While their ‘home’ was technically located in London, by the time he was twelve, Franklin had lived in places such as America (various locations), France, Italy, Ireland, Germany, and Africa, for at least six months each. He’d visited places such as Scotland and Russia and Japan. He was fluent in English, French, and Italian and knew enough German, Russian, and Spanish to get him by in a simple conversation. It wasn’t a glorious life but it was the only life he knew. He learned not to get attached to things because he knew they weren’t permanent. His friends included the children of other crew members (some of which he keeps in touch with via email, though only a few) and some of the actors/crew, who used to sit and tell him stories and play chess.
But ultimately, he didn’t have much else aside from the things he could carry around with him from place to place. He buried himself in his studies, always looking to learn something new. To this day, he manages to spout off random, irrelevant facts in awkward situations because he’s so full of them. When he was nine, his parents agreed to get him an instrument, and he opted for the cello. Because his brain was so logical, it took him awhile to pick up on it, but by the time he was fourteen, he was pretty damn decent.
He graduated High School (or… Technically, he finished his studies) at age seventeen and moved to New York to attend college. It only took a year before he realized that he was too bored to sit in an actual classroom and, hell. Stay in the same place for so long. He itched to travel, to switch things up, so midway through his third college semester, he dropped out, took his cello, and began hitchhiking.
The lifestyle, for awhile, worked well for him. His parents wired him money when he needed it and he picked up odd jobs but he never stayed in one place for more than three weeks. He never left the United States, however, feeling that there were plenty of places he still needed to discover. A lot of environments left untouched. Hitchhiking, however, was a dangerous thing. And one day, when he was twenty and excited and on his way to North Carolina, he was picked up by a seemingly nice looking guy who seemed all too enthusiastic to take him where he needed to go. About an hour into the ride, however, the guy pulled over to the side of the road, pulled out a knife, and threatened to kill him if he didn’t leave all of his things in the truck and get out.
He decided, then, that maybe that lifestyle wasn’t necessarily the best for a kid who didn’t really have a reason to travel. He settled in Miami (“it’s safe, right?”) and borrowed the money needed from his parents to set roots there. He purchased a new cello and got a job working at the resort. While he's restless, he adores his best friend and his life, so he's happy.
